Is it a deep lake? Is it clear? What's the surrounding area like? Is this a lake with high traffic?

The lake is very large - like 67 KM by 27 KM with lots of little islands.
The name of the younger man is Avram Elimelech ben Devorah
The father in law's name is Chanoch ben Rivka Leah

The lake is very very large, and there are lots of little islands, which means there is lots and lots of shoreline to search. If they CHVS did drown, their bodies could float up anywhere in the lake, and on any shore. It takes 2-3 days for bodies to float up. There are helicopters searching the area, and many frum men have gone up to the area to help search, plus Police. The boat rental place said there were four lifejackets in the boat, and when they found the empty boat, there were only two. And their clothes. Which mean they could have gone swimming and got lost, or CHVS drowned. If it was the latter they hope to find the bodies, or CHVS we all know what that could mean to their wives. IYH they should be found safe and sound.

But the fact that they were maybe wearing lifejackets makes it very strange. Is it possible to drown while wearing lifejackets?

Anything can happen. If we speculate any further, it can only hurt the families involved.
Maybe we can infer then that if anyone wants to go fishing, you should go as a group? Open bodies of water are very dangerous regardless of a persons age or experience.

My husband just gave me an update.
It is no longer a search and rescue mission, it is now a search and recovery mission.

It means they are no longer looking for people, they are looking for bodies.
It's very sad, I don't know what else to say...
It's just so scary.
