Does anyone know what the shelf life of Bulgur is? It is a closed bag. Its probably been in the closet for about 8 months.

I think it'll be fine, but if you're iffy, better to toss it.

The bag looks fine on the outside. Just wondering if its safe to count on this bag or whether I need to just get a new one

Not sure specifically about Bulgur, but grains are very prone to bug infestation when stored for a long time. (Storing in the freezer will help to avoid this problem.)

It was stored in the closet in an allegedly airtight container. Does this make a difference?

An air tight container is much better than keeping it in the bag it came in. I guess you can look through it just to be sure. Don't really know how long it would stay fresh in the containers, though.

Got home and looked at the bag, which said "good through 8/10/2012" and it looked fine once open, so I guess it has a considerable shelf life.
DD made Kibbe Saniyeh with it, and it came out looking and smelling great!
