How to shrink baby clothes

my baby is on the small side and id like to shrink some of her clothes to fit her better. whats the best way? anyone ever did this?

Is this your first, and a newborn? If so, don't bother--she'll grow into them very fast. If you have an embarrassment of riches and can't exchange them for something else, and you're willing to risk wrecking the clothes, wash them in the hottest possible water and then dry in a dryer on the hottest possible setting. Repeat if desired. be aware that colors may run or fade, the fabric may get pilly, and seams and architectural details like plackets and appliques will pucker.

this method is best for all-cotton knits like onesies, undershirts and sweatshirts.
