Hi,

My family is planning for a shabbos getaway, we are thinking of somewhere in Pennsylvania. We need info, if anyone knows on which area we can stay that has hotels with shul nearby. Any info is appreciated.
We would also want to spend the Sunday in the area.... any attractions, parks, zoo, museum etc.?

TIA

There are several Orthodox shuls in downtown Philadelphia, as well as a whole lot of hotels. You can spend Shabbat afternoon at one of the many parks, whatever is near your hotel. On Sunday, Franklin Institute, Liberty Bell, Please Touch Museum, zoo, Penn's Landing, Betsy Ross House, Art Museum, Reading Terminal Market, Constitution Museum, ad infinitim to do there.

Pennsylvania is a very large state. Are you interested in areas other than Philly?

Scranton Pa. haas shuls within walking distance of hotels-and in the eruv too.

As for places to go/things to do, try

visitnepa.org and tournepa.com

Thanks for your info, we have no particular area in mind. But would want an area with a yiddish community around.
Will check out Scranton Pa.
BTW would you know names of shuls in the area, so I can check around and see which hotels are nearby?

The hotels in walking distance to the shuls are:

The Lackawanna Radisson
The Hilton hotel and conference center

http://www.radisson.com/scrant.....crant

http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/h.....a/index.do

These 2 hotels are around the corner from each other. The radisson I am fairly sure is inside the eruv. The Hilton is only partially so-u have to go out the back door to be in the eruv.

There is also a smaller howard johnson type that is not in the eruv but is still walking distance. Not sure of the name, but I can find out if you want me to.

The shuls are:

Ohev Zedek-lubavitch/chassidish
Machzikeh Hadas-yeshivish
Beth Shalom-more to the young Israel type
