I bought velvet shabbos shoes for my girls ages 5&7 years old, they're really elegant...
I'm wondering if it will hold up or will it look old and yucky right away
does anyone have any experience with velvet shoes??

can you possibly return them? velvet shoes tend to get ruined quickly as the velvet crushes or gets bald, or stained if it gets muddy or things spill on it. (Think kiddush in shul, whitefish salad piled too high on a cracker.) best shoes for young children are plain or embossed leather that can be polished.

Will you use it every single Shabbos?
I buy velvet shoes for my kids but I do not go out every Shabbos so they last the full season.
