Yaffa for a girl. Yafet (as in the son of Noach)would work for a boy, but it's not a name you hear much among Jews.

That's a pretty comprehensive list! Yaffa is probably most common. Yafit is similar too, thought I'm not sure what the exact difference is.

Yaffit is exactly the translation. Shaindel started as a pet form of Shayna, as Yafit for Yafa. My cousin is Yafit for a Shaindel.

I have a friend named after a Shaindel whose name is Nava.

A beautiful list! but a lot of these names are not used today, even in Israel.(for examle: Shapira is a last name!)

and if you live where these names are not common or people don't give unusal names, please don't!

Your child may be unhappy with his name and that is a whole different discussions!

As for Shaindel - Yafa, Yafit, Naava and a little far fetched - Shifra. (my Grandmother was Shaindel and these are the translations the Israeli grandchildren gave).
