Neighborhood search- Yerushalayim

Hi,
We are new olim, came on aliyah in Sep with 3 kids (8, 5, almost 3). We rented a place in Beit Shemesh because it seemed like an easy landing, and with a mix of people. My husband likes the shul in Nofei Hashemesh very much- he wears a black hat on Shabbos but we are not Chareidi. We are college educated, and the kids are in Ahavat Yisrael (Rappaport) in RBS. I am finding myself not liking Bet Shemesh at all. It feels very far from everything, and gets very hot. I don't think I want to pull the kids out of school now but I would like to get some input on areas in Yerushalayim we could consider. I found out a bit about French Hill, but was concerned about the kids having friends there. My sister is in Ramat Eshkol, but we are not of the young married, learning in kollel type. Where are other people like us moving to in Yerushalayim?.... R' Willig from YU is our rav, and we would want a shul with similar right wing YU, serious hashkafa. Please help with some suggestions.
