I used to worry about things like this, and then I became friends with a Catholic coworker. I realized that she was a lot more comfortable wearing her frumkeit on her sleeve than I was--and it was actually a lot nicer for her. She had no problem saying "I do this because I'm Catholic", and no one ever gave her a hard time or anything.
Since then, I started experimenting with being more up front with my Judaism in these kind of situations. Like, I won't always volunteer the information, but if it comes up, I don't hide it. My husband is also a rabbi, so when people ask what he does, my religion comes up that way.
I've been pleasantly surprised by the reactions I get by just being up front, not hiding or pretending that I'm ashamed of my religion. No one seems to care, and more people are Jewish than you expect!
