We live in a small community where everyone lives spread out and the shul is a mile away. Recovering from surgery and wanting to attend the kiddush, it makes sense to have it in our home after shul. If only a handful of friends show up due to bad weather, is it okay if there's no minyan, or is a minyan necessary?

It's all custom, so I would ask a shaila. My dd didn't have a kiddush at all, neither did my rav's

Is your husband going to do the naming of the baby in shul?
For that, there is an inyan to have more people so they can say mazal tov on your daughter's birth. Once that is done, you can have a kiddush at home with any number of people you like

are yu asking about davening in your house, or having the actual kiddush in your house after? I dont remember hearing that you need a minyan for a kiddush- everyone makes their own kiddush and no one is washing, so there is no need for even three men (although the more the merrier!!)
