Hi all,
We're planning our move from New England to Florida.
Does anyone have suggestions for the cheapest way to move our stuff?
DH asserts it will cost us about $3,000 to move (if we rented a truck and either drove it ourselves or hired movers). Now he's suggesting we sell everything we can of ours and take that money plus dip into the $3k we would have spent and buy all new stuff once we move. I'm pretty much ok with that idea, but DH has a ton of books (like 6 big bookshelves worth, at least) and we have other random odds and ends... so we're trying to figure out the most economical way of moving them 1500 miles. I thought maybe putting them in some sort of storage bin on a boat and then shipping it down the Atlantic would be good - but I'm not sure how much that would cost/save us. (I wish someone offered "Move Cruises" or something - box up your stuff and take a lovely, relaxing cruise with it - would't that be a nice stress free move! Good business idea!)
Since the books are so heavy, I doubt that actually mailing them would be economical.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated! TIA!
