Because I had a really weird dream last night that was pretty much the ENTIRE plot of a short story, but it was definitely not frum, or even jewish. Can't decide if I love it or hate it for its weirdness. It's totally not the genre that I like to read, but it was so not a typical dream; it's pretty much a full plot. I even dreamed the full name of the main character.

Truthfully, it could be an exact copy of something that's already out there and I would never know, because I don't read that type of stuff.

Lol. I'm sure there are. I know, vaguely, of one. What are you asking? If you should publish the story you dreamed? First write it down. If you still like it, edit it. And then decide if it would be better off hidden away on your hard drive or published for the world to see.

Maybe I'll write it down sometime...before I completely forget it. LOL

I guess I just wanted to know if it's at all done. It seems to me like a double standard, but it holds appeal.

I always wanted to write but I've never finished a story or had one published, just a few poems in heimishe publications.

My main problem is lack of time! How do you get yourself to write when you are doing so many other things?! Especially if you don't know if it will lead to anything?

Twilight was based on a weird dream Stephanie Meyer had, and now she's a best-selling author and a lot richer. I think you should write your story down Very Happy .

My former chavrusa, Leah Cypess is frum. She is the author of 2 (so far) young adult fantasy novels.

Faye Kellerman is frum and has written dozens of novels.

If it's really important/something you are passionate about, you find the time. Write when your stuck waiting somewhere, a doctor's office, getting your oil changed, watitng for water to boil, if your at a wedding where you don't know anyone etc. If you look for the time, you will find the time. Buy a small notebook that fits in your purse, stick a pen in the binding, so ur always ready to jot something down, wherever you are. You found the time to log onto imamother and write posts, you have the time to write your dreams and other short stories. If you deside to publish, worry then about pen-names. Most important is to get the story down before you lose it.

My friend Dina Bucholz wrote this book under her real name; does that count? The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook

She has a few more books that she is in the midst of writing, in a variety of genres!

This has come up elsewhere. Probably more conservadox. Cute lady IRL, I heard speak at a book fair once. Very engaging, and not FFB which is probably why some things don't quite fit. (I just found her newest book; didn't realize she had another one so soon.)

Presumably, most of the people buying the Harry Potter cookbook are not Jewish and don't have a mitzvah to eat only from kosher animals.

also, next time u read harry potter, pay attention to food, jk rowling gets really detailed, so that's probably why it's got non-kosher, to more closely follow the books

How would she invent and test out those recipes?

A relative of hers told me Dina hired a chef to do that.
