Eat one to calm your craving. But ONE and only one, strictly.
Oh, and you can shake hands with me.

First of all, kudos to you for making cupcakes as opposed to cake, since it's portion controlled. It's a lot easier to eat a sliver of cake than a cupcake so you should be fine.
I find that the best way to avoid overeating cake is to avoid eating it altogether. Don't start. Pure abstinance works for me.
Good luck and enjoy shabbos without the cake!

glad you resolved this Smile but I find when I have one of something and LEAVE THE ROOM...I have an easier time stopping at that. for example, if you are cooking dont eat it! wait until you dont have to be in the kitchen anymore and take the cupcake with you to another room, eating it there....other ideas of controlling a potential binge are brushing your teeth after eating one, chewing gum, and drinking 1-2 cups of water- it really works!

If you can have one and enjoy it and then stop, good for you. Otherwsie bake stuff that you don't really like. Or stuff that you can have guilt-free.

Another option is that aside from making the cake, make something for yourself too that's sweet (like a delicious fruit salad) or refreshing (like lemon ices).
Don't torture yourself by not having something to treat yourself with TOO.
Oh, and please bake when you are NOT HUNGRY. Wink
