I was downsized after a reorg of my company. I am so depressed. I would love to stay at home, even though my youngest is already 10. I am just not sure we can make it work financially. I am terrified.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope in a year from now you'll be able to look at this as the greatest thing that ever happened to you because you'll be in a way better place.

Hugs. I find that things really do tend to work out for the best. But I understand the very valid initial stress.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It's very hard to be made redundant, many of my close friends had gone through this phase. The most important bit is, it's not your fault, it's entirely the organisation (and the economy) that is at fault. So please don't feel bad or ashamed. It happens to very bright, very capable people.
Would it be possible for you to get a positive reference? Also what do your colleagues plan to do? I would try to keep in touch with your colleagues (assume they're also made redundant), customers, people you may deal with regularly. Are there headhunters in your field or some professional organisations that may lead to some new job clues? Anyone you know at the synagogue/community?
