Which can you put into the dishwasher and not have to worry that the gold will eventually fade or come off? Which brands look as good when they're a few years old, as when brand new?

Gold isn't dishwasher safe . . . neither are brands that say "not dishwashr safe" ( sometimes you don't know until you opne the box.)
I also have Mikasa and love it!

I have Mikasa Bone china, and I put it in the dishwasher and so far so good. It says dishwasher safe on it.

I have lenox bone china and love it.
it is not dishwasher safe, I am so careful with it that I dont know how it holds up cuz I dont put it to the wear test.
I have it for 3 years and it looks brand new.

I have lenox bone china that says "dishwasher safe" I LOVE it! I use it in the dish washer on turbo and high temp wash and it comes out looking perfect!

I have mikasa gold from the fine china collection for shabbas, and mikasa platinum for weekday, they both say dishwasher safe, and I haven't had any problems...yet

I haven't see it personally, but Target and Walmart have china, too. I've heard it's quite nice!
