A government program giving $ to my school is sending someone to observe me teaching... part of the program... Just looking for a really good lesson to captivate my students with when they come...
Anything on fall- not to typical and something that will be exciting for the kids...

(I'm usually responsible to teach Judaic studies but I can't do that in front of them...)
TIA!!

what age or subject matter are you looking for?

They like to see differentiation, group work, scaffolding and student led learning as much as possible.

It's for 4 year olds. I was thinking of teaching about squirrels gathering nuts for the winter... and then the students can do it hands on and crawl around and pick up nuts... but can't think of a way to build on that and do the actual lesson part...

I'm actually a little taken aback that you would need to teach something outside of your usual style. Can't observers deal with religious material in a Jewish school?

It just seems like you'd be much better off teaching within your comfort zone, and also doing something you have built all year -- likely readily demonstrating the scaffolding, group work, and differentiation that Fabulous mentioned.

But if you must do squirrels, here's a song for you:

Gray squirrel, gray squirrel, shake your bushy tail
Gray squirrel, gray squirrel, shake your bushy tail.
Wrinkle up your little nose
Hold a nut between your toes
Gray squirrel, gray squirrel, shake your bushy tail.

Science lesson: Leaves & fall Weather

http://www.preschools4all.com/......html

Materials: Leaves, glue. paper, Word wall words: red, green, yellow brown

Talk about the leaves, elicit student observations of what has been happening to the leaves, the trees, weather- a good chance to reflect on Sandy, if relevant.

Song-to Farmer in the Dell
"The leaves are falling down,
the leaves are falling down,
red, yelllow green & brown,
the leaves are falling down

They're falling on the ground,
they're falling on the ground,
red yellow, etc.

so many great pre-sch web sites w. lesson plans. try key words "pre-school, Fall Weather, lesson plans" etc. Art activity is the culmination-- circulate and discuss the leaves, acorns, color choices w. the kids as they work.

bonus activity- fill a plastic bin w. leaves, nuts, etc & have as a play station for free play time>-- call it the science table.
