I would love to hear from therapists and patients.
What is the norm regarding gifts for therapists- cash? gift card or a gift? amount?
Is there a difference if the therapists get paid through an agency or out-of-pocket (a fortune)?
Any experienced advice would be appreciated.

No difference if she's through an agency or private. I most commonly get gift cards. Usually $25. It's awkward for me to receive cash. If you want to give but can't afford that much, just write a really nice note thanking her. A cheap gift set of no name lotion or a $10 watch are not appreciated, so you may as well save the money and show gratitude in other ways. Also, I have never begrudged someone for not giving something. It is a nice extra, but definitely not expected.

OP here,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I thought I should give the therapists that come through an agency a larger amount, as the privately paid ones get paid very well. Does your answer remain the same?
