I'm wondering if anyone read Guest House by Gita Gordon. I read South African Journeys by the same author and liked it alot, so I'm wondering if I should get this book for myself for a Chanukah present? No kidding! One of the best pieces of advice I got from a friend is that if you want something, stop hinting, and just get it!

Is it anything like South African Journeys? That is one of my favorite (Jewish) books.

I'm trying to remember it. It takes place in a fairly short frame of time. It's not historical, though it does take place about 20+ years ago and has some mild historical references. I think it's a fairly similar read though, compared to say Flashback.

I did like it and South African Journey also. They're a cut above some of what's out there. Light enough yet with enough tochen and well written. Enjoy!

I liked it. Reminded me of Thale's Folly by Dorothy Gilman.

It's a good book. I like Gita Gordon's books.
But South African Journeys is still the best.

What's the gist of the story? Got a gift card and going to buy a book soon

I saw you mention your card on another thread. It's a nice read, I think you'll like it, not short, but went fairly fast. The gist is a few people who all end up at the same (frum) holiday resort in the northern UK and how their stories intertwine. Very straightforward, smooth plot, none of that jumping back and forth between centuries, solar systems, etc.
