I cooked a fresh batch of soup yesterday for Shabbos, and I left the hot soup out on the stove all night because the pot is too big to fit in my fridge to cool off. I just put them in containers and in the freezer, but I just want to make sure it's safe to eat. It was out cooling off for probably 14 or more hours, it thickened and isn't clear anymore, but it tastes fine. Am I taking too much of a risk to use it?

I always leave my soup out (and covered) overnight and then reboil a few times before serving. I haven't yet killed anyone. If it is left out another night I give it serious inspection before eating though. I do tell all my guests my soup method and I've also yet to have any complaints. If it doesn't clear up at all after reboiling (and perhaps adding a little bit more water to thin it a touch) then maybe consider not using it, but I would say it was fine, just make sure it really does come to a full boil before eating it.

I wouldnt eat it, unless it was on the fire all night, or if the room temperature was colder than normal

I wouldnt use it. If you had turned off the flame at midnight and put it away at 6am it would depend on the size of the pot.

next time fill up your sink with ice water and submerge it after it was sitting for an hour off the flame. this way itll cool it and wont sit out. they say max 4 hours until it cools to a certain temperature. but after that the amount of bacteria that grows is not safe. and well 14 hours, is pushing it.

During the winter, I put large pots of soup on the porch to cool overnight.
