I'm looking for opinons on both brands and appliance.
I want to get either a blender or food processor. I will be using it for apple sauce, homemade nut mylk, possibly making own flour and nutbutter.
Do I splurge and get something like a vitamix or a thermomix or is it uneccesary?

I make applesauce with a fork, and nut butters in a mini processor. it gets stuck under the blade in my blender.
never made my own nut milk or flour.
I dont have either of the brands you mention, but I find my food processor much more useful than my blender.

My vitamix is the most used appliance but for dry things like nuts, seeds...not as good as the cheap infomercial type stuff. I used to use the ultimate chopper. That was good for the dry stuff. I was thinking of trying the magic bullet for that now.

I don't make any of those things and I rarely use either appliance except for shabbos.
Food processor for kugel
blender for dips and occasional cream soups (which you can also use a $10 hand blender for)

I'd go with the food process, and a cheap but good immersion hand blender.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I've decided to go with the food processor and just wait for my immersion blender to arrive in the lift
