so upsetting... our water was turned off. my son just came to me and told me he couldn't flush the toilet and the sink wasn't working.. so I checked it out and now of course I can't sleep because I'm thinking of the coming day and the craziness involved in having no water... how soon will they turn it on if we pay our bill??!! will our pipes freeze and burst?? I'm very nervous about this... has anyone had this?? need some chizuk please!

A lot of your answers (how long does it take to turn it back on? will your pipes freeze?) will depend on where you live.

OP, information regarding how long your utility has to turn your water back on should be available on your utility's website.

of all the bills not to pay--- I think it would be better to get the gas shut off but keep the water.
hmm.
do your #2's at a neighbor's house, eh?

I'm not sure where you live . It has happened to me many times. In NJ the Bureau of Public Utilities will work with you and make arrangements .
If you qualify for food stamps , there are other programs available

re the pipes freezing
turn on every faucet and make sure there is nothing left in them to freeze
how to get it back on? call them up and make some sort of payment arrangement
as for the person who said rather have the gas shut off - but you'd be peeing every minute due to the cold
