I had a couple of contractors come down, but it seems I need an architect to draw plans? Anyone know someone that will come down and go over what I want to do etc? I need to do the work relatively soon, within a month or so

I don't think anyone will do the work for you without plans drawn up by a contractor.

You need to hire an architect who knows the building code of the town or city you live in You should have either the architect or the contractor et you a certificate of occupancy after you complete the work to assure that everything was done up to building code and that it was all legal

The contractors wont draw the plans, thats the odd part. They want me to hire someone to do it , separately.

An architect draws up plans and a contractor follows the drawing and builds according to the plans.

Try Rivka Birnhack. She did my basement layout as well as my kitchen and was great! We are absolutely thrilled with the results. She is RB Design and is listed in phone book
