I have to go back to work (part time, teaching). Before I make arrangements and start meeting people, I'd just like to find out what is the norm to pay for someone to come to my house. Is it more for twins? I live in brooklyn.
Thanks for any help I can get!

You should expect to pay about $10 an hour form someone with references and experience. If you are willing to take an immigrant who barely speaks English, pick a language that you probably can speak with hand-food-waving motion and then you can get away with $7 or $8.

If u are willing 2 take an immigrant w/no experence, that's the cheapest, say 6-8/hr.
W/ experience, probably 9-12
Jewish, 10 if youre really lucky, and I've heard of women asking much more. Especially w/ 2 babies, yes that costs more.
IF u want, I know of a woman (non-jew) who lives in CH (but would travel) that is looking for a nanny job. She raised 2 twins of her own and I can give a great reference for her. I would really like to help her find a job because she was excellent with my own children. If you would like, u can email me at burgerschick@yahoo.com
just post if u email me bc I don't check there that often.
good luck, whatver u do!

why would u want a foreigner - just cause it's cheaper - pay more for a good babysitter foreign or not - go for the quality and pay for the quality

greenfire,
not always does more money mean better quality.
sometimes you can pay cheap for a better worker.
