If that describes you, when you are put up to the wall and must choose between Yeshivish and Modern which do you think you will choose and why?

modern because I do not close myself off from the outside world. I read the newspaper, listen to the radio. I wear short sleaves and sandals in the summer. I watch movies and I sometimes read novels that I shouldnt (yes I did just say that). I say modern b/c I grew up and we went to baseball games, played frizbee on sunday and went to the museum of natural history and looked at the dinosaurs and all throughout that we always had the underpresence that frumkeit was the ultimit important thing.

to tell you the truth, I dont really understand the difference between yeshivish and charedi.....

Depends on the context...

Probably yeshivish if I had to say because although maybe philosophically we're more modern, the way we actually live our life is more yeshivish - no tv, yeshivish level of tznius, definitely want our boys to go to yeshiva (and "yeshivish" yeshiva at that!)...But if we were talking strictly philosophy it would be more modern.

My sons busdriver asked him if he's a Yid so my son said yes, than he asked him if he's a chassidishe yid and my son said No, he then asked him if he's a Litvishe Yid and my son said NO WAY, so the busdriver said what kind of Yid are you ...... my son answered very exasperated I'm just a Yid.

So I guess we're just Yidden Smile

Same here. I didn't even notice different kippas until I went to seminary and learned that it was apparently very important when looking for a shidduch.

Seriously - I had never even heard the word "kippa sruga" until my year in Israel.

Probably somewhere on the 'yeshivish modern' (serious Y.U. types) to the 'modern yeshivish' spectrum LOL

It's not that I'd never seen a kippa sruga before, I'd seen plenty, and grew up around a whole mix of kippas. I just didn't know that kippas had different names and that a specific style was associated with specific groups. I always thought that kippas were similar to tie styles and people wore the style that they liked.
