The big problem of the choice of these two schools is that the more yeshivish school is going to have crazy rules that have nothing to do with halacha. I would sent my child to the more yeshivish school but I would not be able to deal with any crazy rules like what kind of hair covering you are allowed to wear. If my husband tells me to wear scarves, nobody is going to tell me to only wear a sheitel. etc....
Many people on the MO- machmir or yeshivish YU or whatever you call it are stuck sending their kids to more modern schools because they are stuck in the middle. They just hope that there are enough of them in the school to have a chevra.
I am lucky enough that when IY"H my son goes to school there is a school nearby that I am comfortable with.

I have the same school situation, and have my kids in the more modern school (it is also logistically better for me). I wear a sheitel, which less than half the moms in the school do (several cover with hats, etc.) and my kids know that there are boundaries, and what others do is not necessarily okay for us. Hopefully this will prepare them for life where not always is everyone around you up to your standards. It is important to me that they realize all Yidden were created b'tezelem Elokim even those that may not do things the same as us.

The above poster summed it up beautifully

We should try to emulate this approach especially when it comes to posts here. Wink

no she is not right. a person is at the level they hold for now. this is where they need to be now. you cant ask s/o to jump up to a higher level until they are ready to.

if you tell a BT that s/he needs to do more now, you are tilling her/him (or yourself) that they are not good enuf. if thats the case, why bother?

yes, we should all strive to grow, but where we are at this moment in time is where we need to be. tomorrow is another story altogether.

how will you get to a different level tomorrow, if you think that you are exactly where you are meant to be today? What would make you think there should be a change?

Yes, but that would mean recognizing that the day before was not optimal, and there is room for improvement. Otherwise, why expend emotional energy unnecessarily, when you might need it for other things?

and physical and mental and spiritual abilities too

but .... how do we know that we are doing our best? I think it's easy to fool myself into thinking it's my best when I can do much better.
