I am especially curious how much you pay a year (per child) if you have multiple children in the same cheider. Please include building fund and other expenses that you are required to pay.

When we left the US the tuition in the only local school was $10,000 a year per child. They didn't care that we couldn't afford it and said they didn't give scholarships. B"H, because of their stance we made aliya, but I assume that most people aren't paying that much even now.

Thanks!

I didn't vote because it depends on the age. Under high school in Brooklyn is (just) under 10k (I hear 7-9k being most common) except for the more MO schools which cost more. High School from what I know is always over 10k for non-Chassidish schools.

My son is in preschool/playgroup and I am paying $4500 for 10months and then another $1000 for the summer.

It is not a cheder though, its a preschool thru kindergarten and when he turns 5 I have to move him into a cheder...dread that part!

Liba, thanks for starting this thread Wink Wink I'm very curios what the results would be. Could people responding please be specific as far as:

What do you ACTUALLY pay, meaning if you get a tuition break, the actual cost not the official pre-break price.
Specifically if you have more than 2 elementary school age kids in the same Cheder, what is your cost?

Baltimore elementary school for a boy:

Stated tuition $10,125. We got a fair assesment and will only be paying $6,000. On top of that we have a raffle obligation of $540 + hours to volunteer to the school (the latter only for scholarship recipients).
