I feel like everyone's cholent is better than mine, I'm looking to experiment with new ingredients.
What do you put in your cholent?

Onion, potato, beans, sweet potato, barley, honey, garlic, bay leaf, salt and pepper, kishke, beef, (and a bone when I have one) and sometimes mushrooms. Oh, and some water, and some love.

Bed of onions
potatoes
beans
barley
meat

Spiced with: a lot of onion soup mix, crushed garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, 1 tablespoon ketchup and salt. 1/4 cup olive oil. Fill with water to cover ingredients. Mix (according to halacha) over shabbos 2-3 times. Comes out delicious and consistent every time.

However you make it, put these on top, and your chulent will be great!

kishkelach:

2 tsp paprika
1tblsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup boiling water
1 1/2 cups flour

put in a bowl in order given. mix. will form ball. either put in chulent as is (do not wrap) or make into little balls and put in chulent.

adds lots of flavor

I once had a lovely chulent at a friend's house who put cola in it.

I like to add sausage for the flavor

Someone said this already, but I recently tried putting in chili powder into my cholent and it made a huge difference! I put a bit of mustard in mine too, doesnt give a strong flavor but we like it. Also, when I put in cut up kishka slices around the top of the cholent this week, the flavor was completely different. The kishka falls apart this way, but it tasted amazing.

Scratching Head
A poster accidentally put cinnamon in her chulent and she gave it a very bad review.

Yea. Many love a thing, many dislike it.
Chocolate is becoming a classic though.

carmelized onions, potatoes, beans, barley, honey, ketchup, sea salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, water. I usually keep it parve but when I have guests I add flanken.

Sauteed onions, browned meat, duck sauce, beans, barley, diced potatoes. Salt, paprika, hot ketchup and soy sauce. In that order. Shani's kishkelech also add a great flavor when I'm not lazy and make them.

much the same as other posters but with a big tablespoon of soya sauce alongside the chili. Gives the chulent a kick which makes it taste good the longer you leave it.
