Questions about renting in Brooklyn with a dog

Hello!
My husband and I are looking to move to Brooklyn (Flatbush area) at the end of May/June. My question for everyone is, do you think we would be able to rent an apt since we have a large dog? She is a good breed (labradore) and is totally housebroken and I would be more than willing to put down an extra deposit. My parents think no one will rent to us and we will need to give up the dog which we really do not want to do.

I guess it depends on your landlord's preferences. We have a good dog too and hey they neighbors get along with him just fine!

I'm sure you could find a place - keep on looking - pletnty of ny's have dogs ... you wouldn't be the first ...

I know ppl who live in the apartment building on new york ave and kings hwy that have a dog so they allow them at least there.

I rent & sell apts for a living, and none of them take pets.

The building right across from Rambam?

I know some people in that building that have a fairly large dog, some type of lab mix. I think you just have to pay a deposit or a little extra each month. It's a nice building and there's a bus stop right in front.

It is a nice building. I wanted to get an apartment there when I got married but there were no vacancies at the time.

That's them. I thought they had some sort of shepard mix, but I could be wrong because I haven't seen them in a while.

You could be right. I just remember that he's big and black with a fluffy tail.
I haven't seen them in ages either.

Anyways. . . the apartments in that building are really nice and there's laundry in the basement.

honestly it will be VERY difficult for you to find but you might...We had a next door neighbour with a dog-no one likes them no one spoke to them the dog was causing lots of problems!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the advice, I just got off the phone with a brooklyn apt broker I found in the Jewish press and she seemed to think we would be able to find SOMETHING. Now I just need to find a daycare! Any advice on that?
I guess I should start a new thread!

hi I live on Ocean Pkwy and Kings Hwy in a building and there are plenty of tenants here with dogs. and I happen to know that there are vacancies (I'm moving out Wink

)
how many bedrooms do u need?

I used to live in an apt on kings highway and bedford and lots of people had dogs (even big ones!) and it was a nice building too. It may be helpful to look into buildings where there may be russian tenants - they seem to be more likely to have pets
