Is it necessary to give DD's pediatrician a Chanukah/Holiday gift? He's Not-frum, & very fantastic doctor.

If yes, what should we buy him?

As a child of a pediatrician, here's what I can tell you:

Unless you are personally friends with this individual, do not give them a gift. You probably won't get it right anyway.

If the doctor has a photo board (very common) then feel free to give a card with a photo of the child.

I cannot tell you how many times my mother came home with things she found to be useless. Appreciated sure, but ever looked at again? Nope.

If you MUST give a gift, give something edible. Cookies, hot cocoa mix, etc.

I'm trying to be thoughtful. If you think it will be appreciated than great, but if not then why bother?

I'm sorry, my response came off as short and I didn't mean for it too.

I guess I was just trying to say if you don't know the doc personally it'll be next to impossible to get something you can be certain they will like.

That's why I suggested something edible. Most people like sweets and it's something that can be appreciated (consumed).

My apologies.
