After reading through the homemade vs packaged food poll, I started wondering what packaged food you ladies had in mind when you indicated your preference. I prefer to give packaged food because I can have everything ready in advance. What food items do you enjoy getting?

good quality chocolate. id rather a small bar of good stuff then a big box of cheap chocolates.
Wine/grape juice.
We like nuts, espcially pistachios but be careful of allergies.

We like nice crackers, juice, Kosher Le Pesach stuff, and yogurts, although I realize giving dairy doesn't work if you have to leave the packages out for a while.

I would b nervous using stuff from mm for pesach as it generally is handled very closely with chametz.

DON'T:
stuff made out of mostly corn syrup and food coloring (ex. Mike and Ikes/jellybeans, all those terrifying candy paint/candy hair/candy rings/candy flashlights, Laffy Taffy)
stuff made out of mostly salt and msg (ex. Bissli/Super Snax, different types of crackers/chips)
weird flavors of wafers (ex. lemon or strawberry )
weird dried fruit (dried papaya or guava)
bakery hamantaschen (I've never been impressed with bakery goods)
DO SEND, PLEASE!
chocolate
chocolate
chocolate covered nuts
honey roasted nuts
chocolate or hazelnut wafer rolls (the ones shaped like cigarettes)
did I mention chocolate?
MEH?
chocolate vaflim (the rectangular ones)
regular roasted/salted nuts (I usually end up getting way more than I could ever use, and they end up sitting in a cabinet until they're buggy. Also, I can't use salted nuts the way I would use regular nuts in cooking/baking)
dried fruit like apricots, apples, pineapple
little bags of pretzels, potato chips, animal crackers

Last year I gave RealBeanz Iced Coffee (the CY version of a Starbucks Frappachino) and it was well-received! Then again last year I made very few MM, just over 10, now I'm making way more than that BH!

Kosher by hechsher or list.
No msg. Though it can go for my family.
I don't mind nosh, "junk"... but please not something like fully artificial with not one real ingredient. If it's like this and full of colours and sugar, all together, I may well throw it.

I was actually wondering, I'm not big on cooking, so is it ok to give bought stuff instead of homemade food? Like if I go and buy one of those pre-arranged boxed from the stores?

yeah, if you want to pay someone lots of cash for arranging your mm.
Buy some nice food, lots of plastic, some ribbons, baskets or trays if you want from a cheap store, and arrange whatever you buy nicely on the plate and wrap.

Nice box of tea. Brownie bars. Cappuccino. I hate the small liqueur/vodkas.
