I am making a bar mitzva, and would like to wear a gown. Im heavy and short. I want to look amazing despiter my weight. Anyone have any ieas as to where I should shop? Alos im in Lakewood. Maybe someone knows a dress maker as well that caters to heavy gals? tia

Macy's? I'm not so short but am plus size. I wore a gown with a shell to some chasunas.

You might look at Roaman's website. You might have a dressmaker adjust the length of one of their gowns.

I have a siblings wedding soon and just did a big search for plus size gowns. Here's what I've found.
I ended up getting mine in Davids Bridal. (Not sure where you are located but there is a store in Brooklyn on Flatbush Avenue near Target).
Nordstrom.com has a great selection of plus size gowns. Adrianna Papell is a designer that makes beautiful gowns that really flatter and are usually between $100-$300.
Dillards.com also has a nice selection of plus size gowns.
Macys.com has a cheaper priced selection of plus sized gowns.

op, im also short & heavy and in lakewood. I recently got a gown in evening elegance in west gate, I looked gorgeous at my sisters wedding!
