Hello Ladies,

I'll ask my LOR, but was wondering if anyone knows about what to do with a night guard on Pesach? Can I wear it or do I need to "kasher" it? I don't believe I'm supposed to use hot water on it though...

TIA

I was told to clean it with denture cleaner.

I know. I need my mouth guard and I haven't gotten around to asking a shaila yet......

I asked and was told to clean it thoroughly and dip into water as hot as it can tolerate. It's not really kashered but I guess it's as if.
Btw, anyone with fillings should do the same.
Or AYLOR

I'm assuming it would be the same rules as a retainer. You don't wear it while eating, right? And if it's a night thing, presumably you've also just brushed your teeth. I was always told to just wash and brush my retainers as well as possible and then not worry about it. The dipping into hot water thing seems like a terrible idea - how are you supposed to know how hot it can tolerate, why take chances of destroying it, and it's not kashering anyway. It's plastic, right? You can't kasher plastic! AYLOR sure but as this is not a food item and not used with food items I don't believe anything of a kashering nature is required.

Why does porcelain need to be kashered any more than bone?
And the thin plastic mouth guards cannot tolerate warm water.

Just stick your head in the oven at 350 for 2 hours while wearing it
Ok, really denture cleaner and a good brush should be fine. At least that's what a friend was told.

I was told to just clean it really well, but you should double check....

You must be MO. Wink My rav says it can only be kashered in a self cleaning oven or with a torch. LOL

The more I think about it, it probably would need hagalah done (since it is wet all the time). So maybe fill your mouth with water and sit on the stove. Wait for it to boil...

Ok, to be honest a friend (who heard it from her friend) told me this one. But I couldn't resist passing it on!
