Would you feel obligated to accept a hospitality request for Shabbos, even if it came only hours beforehand.

Raisin, I'm from the south, so it's indiginous to that region. Meaning, they have something with a local hechsher!
Just becuase it's there, doesn't mean the local shaliach always buys it. It's expensive. Therefore, when I would bring it, they'd be happy. Or so I thought . . .

also need to be careful about hechsherim before you buy things without asking the shluchim first. Many do not use tofutti as the keilim are not kashered at 212 degrees as per the alter rebbe's shulchan aruch.
And a BIG yashar koach to all shluchos!!!

People get angry when you tell them they can't come over?

I think everyone should just remember that
a. shluchim are people too, yes, with their own lives, and although they are "there" for everyone, there may be times when they just can't.
b. No one has a "right" to anyone else's hospitality.
c. If you invite yourself over, don't complain about what you get!!

it was Super G "tofutti style" ice cream.....
Anyway, outside of C.H., not all shluchim are so careful with all of the chabad chumras.
Lastly, who said the Tofutti isn't kashered that way?

Quote: | Sometimes people have to say no. We once were invited to a simcha on shabbos, a sit down meal and some people called us to come and eat. We had to say no. It wwas either saying no to them or insulting some good friends in our community. These people were so angry that we could not host them. It was really unpleasant. In the end we invited them for Shalosh Seudos. |
a) how can someone be angry that you can't host them? what sort of people are they?
b) did you explain that you were invited out? and they were angry still?
what were they expecting? that you should give up your invitation for them?
do these people have any social graces?

Actaully, I've found most shluchim to be MORE careful with kashrus standards and chabad minhagim.
and chof-k who gives tofutti the hechsher said that.
