Any ideas? DC drinks plenty of water, a little black cherry juice, nurses, eats lots of fruits and vegetables, prunes. Gets constipated for a couple of days at a time.

Try pear juice. Produced by Beechnut or Gerber and sold usually in the baby food section.

My DD had this too and it was also bad enough that her diet, which should have supported healthy BM's, was not enough of a solution - my doctor recommended mineral oil - you should look into that.

my son has been constipated most of the time since he started solids (for over 2 yrs now). my dr (I just switched) recommended using miralax (or normalax in israel).
my son is 3, I give him half a cap full. and from the day he started taking it, he has been 'making' nicely and is not constipated
I was amazed and was soooo happy to finally find something to do for him.
and prune juice did not work for him. I was giving him suppositories (liquid glycerin pedialax) when it got really bad, but hated doing it.
