We are looking for places to stay before we go and book tickets because we want to make sure we don't go over our budget. Does anybody have any ideas of fairly cheap places to stay. We are not picky about location. We are a family of five.

Hi, You didn't say where you want to stay, but the Prima Palace Hotel on Pines St. in Geula is nice and moderately priced. You could always get an apartment...At home in Israel...I've used it to rent apartments in Rechavia and Old Katamon. They were nice, not fancy. prices vary depending on when you go. Yom Tov is expensive. summer...not.

Look on local email lists. Especially if you come bein hazmanim or over yom tov there are many people who try to rent out their apartments.

sukkos is going to be VERY expensive. we came once for sukkos (before we lived here), and stayed in a chareidi neighborhood and paid $1500 for a tiny 1 BR apt.

check reservekosher.com. they have nice apartments all over jerusalem in different price ranges.
