1. Any ideas for what fun ideas I can do today in the house and a trip to take my 9 year old and 11 year old on today in the ny/nj area?
2. Any ideas of where I can take them myself for a few day trip, no more than a 2 hour drive?
3. How about where to go myself for a few days with my 13 -15 year olds?

Palisades Mall (ropes course, laser tag, Billy Beez (for younger ones), ice skating. Turtle Back Zoo. FAO Schwartz before it closes. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. We went to the palisades ropes course. The wait was so long, but worth it! Any suggestions for me going away with just the two older ones for a few days, and then in a different trip with just the two younger ones for a few days ? Thanx so much.

Slightly further away (2.5 hours)-- is Mystic CT. That's a great 2 day trip from NYC for the two younger ones. Lots to do:
Mystic Seaport
Mystic Aquarium
Downtown mystic
Submarine museum in Groton
dinosaur place
Do you have any bookworms? the bookbarn in Niantic is great. My kids could spend hours in there-- tons of used childrens books, most of them are $1.00 each

Few days for older kids - Newport, Niagara, Hershey/Lancaster, DC, NH or VT if they like hiking and outdoor activities

There are two hotels right of the 95 in Mystic. One is a holiday inn, and I forget what the other one is. Also a mid-range place. Not the fanciest, but not a roach motel, either.
