so we're not allowed to wash our clothes ... do we have to wash the dishes ... after all a clean house is a luxury ?!?!

Maybe clean things, in some circumsances, would be a health issue rather than a luxury... should one let a baby crawl on a dirty floor?

We wash dishes. We don't go to bed until the sinks are empty. Ever. Then in the morning I can put the clean stuff away and put the drying racks away and voila...counterspace!

This is why I don't usually like telling people what psak I got but part of the issue this year was maybe the fact that the baby is crawling all over the floor...I'll have to ask dh again about what exactly the rav said, since he's the one who asked the shayla (or maybe it is better not to share the info if it was special circumstances?)

Oh, that’s fine, Mimivan. I asked the rov about defrosting a freezer and cleaning an oven, and he said it waas okay. But for other things, like changing linen and mopping floors, it’s only lekovod Shabbos. That’s okay, it’s already late Wed., so we can make it until tomorrow!

It took me a LONG time to get us to that point! When we bought our home we (*I*) spent a lot of money, more really than we could afford, to make the kitchen Marion-friendly. I spend a LOT of time there, and there are some appliances I own that have to stay on the countertop as they don't fit anywhere else. It just seemed stupid to have spent so much to make the kitchen usable and then lose all those benefits to constantly drying dishes.

Nice try, green. Really nice try.
I also go for it. That's it. I declare that dishwashing is against halacha. There.
