I don't see how that is possible. I think the opinion in the Gemara is making a point but I can't imagine it's saying that when in the pshat when Natan said David sinned and his baby would die as a result what he really said was that David didn't sin. That just doesn't make any sense at all. Not sure why everyone has to take everything so literally so that things no longer make any sense.

not that he didn't sin, just that his sin was not as serious as adultery or murder. thats how I understand it
