Dear wonderful women,
My oldest is elementary (2nd), and this is the first time this has come up.
How much does one pay a 15 year old to learn Hebrew Kriah (one - on - one) for 15 minutes? For 30 minutes?
The learning was over Shabbos and happened three times. One time at our home (and the boy had to walk here) and one time at a yeshiva (and I walked my son there and back each way).
I am embarrassed to say that I didn't know one was supposed to pay for Shabbos learning. The teenager never mentioned it to me when we discussed it at outset, via text, and now I just received a text from his mother : (
BH! Embarrassment is a kapparah!

Call the boy- say " I am sorry we never discussed pay. How much are you expecting to get paid?". Start from there. I would think between $10 and $20 an hour is reasonable- I know that's a big range.

Original poster here: I emailed a local rabbi. He said 10/half hour would be fair.
