This story made the paper here. Her outfit was far less revealing that what most young women wear here in So. Calif. It wasn't tznius of course, but she was covered in the most important parts. It was bad press for Southwest.

I don't have the link but it was on cnn.com. They did not pull her off. She asked for a blanket to cover up with and stayed on the fight. The outfit she was wearing was not any more reveling than what I see day to day during the summer.

What does everybody think of this in comparison to the Beit Shemesh controversy? Even non jews have standards, why can't we?

Quote:
She had a doctor's appointment that afternoon in Tucson, where temperatures had topped 106 all week. She arrived at Lindbergh Field wearing a white denim miniskirt, high-heel sandals, and a turquoise summer sweater over a tank top over a bra.
After the plane filled, and the flight attendants began their safety spiel, Ebbert was asked to step off the plane by a customer service supervisor, identified by the airline only as "Keith."

They walked out onto the jet bridge, where Keith told Ebbert her clothing was inappropriate and asked her to change. She explained she was flying to Tucson for only a few hours and had brought no luggage.
"I asked him what part of my outfit was offensive," she said. "The shirt? The skirt? And he said, 'The whole thing.' "

Keith asked her to go home, change and take a later flight. She refused, citing her appointment. The plane was ready to leave, so Keith relented. He had her pull up her tank top a bit, pull down her skirt a bit, and return to her seat.

Ebbert says several flight attendants overheard the conversation and, after an embarrassing walk down the aisle, she took her seat and spread a blanket over her lap.

All she wanted was an apology which she didn't get... so she plans to sue.

you have to probably see a picture to understand.
I wonder if her "miniskirt" was underwear size and tank top was bra size..... Otherwise, I doubt they would ask her.

good for the airline!!! She looks like she isn't wearing anything on her bottom and her top isn't too covered either. Gee, if Southwest Airlines could do it , then so could the ppl of Beit Shemesh!

Not that I like the looks of the outfit, but they should not have had the right to pull her off the plane. She is wearing basically what millions of women round the globe wear. Unless the airline wants to start posting dress codes for men and women.

And no Arita, the people of RBS should not have the right to demand people dress as they want. When the Moshiach comes that will be a given. Till then, one's best bet is to influence.

arita, it is not at all the same. if you see just HOW she was dressed, it is not how ppl come into the ramat beit shemesh. in my whole time here in ramat beit shemesh, I never saw a woman walking around with a skirt that you could see her behind or with such a revealing top. it is not the same.
they were not telling her HOW to dress, they were telling her that she was making ppl uncomfortable and how NOT to dress.....

but the pt is that non jews thought that they had a right to a standard, therefore jews can have one too, at least in their own homes , stores. outside of that is a diff story.

I'm kind of shocked b/c her outfit looks conservative in comparison to much "summer wear" that passes for normal where I live.

btw, most people, at least from what I was reading, felt the woman was mistreated and are siding with her. Not 100% but most.

I think Southwest will suffer.

And one of the points being missed is the stores aren't complying because that is how they see things, but because they are under duress.
