I am due IY"H soon and if this baby is a boy would like to name him after my grandfather z'l whose name was Avraham Tzvi.
I want to call the baby by a nickname but I'm not a big fan of Avrumi.
I know that Avi is another option but it's my brother's name...which is okay but might get confusing. Anyone else have any good ideas for a nickname?

I have a brother Tzvi, we nicknamed him Tzviki or Tiki, he's now 5, so we stick more to Tzviki rather than Tiki !!

I've also heard of Bram or Bummi (it sounds a bit closer to boom than bum)

He'll choose what he wants to do with the nickname.

I really don't think it's a big deal. In the community where I live, the men who are the most well known businessmen, as well as being leaders of the shul and the school, and are generous givers to all the organizations, are named Heshy, Zevy, and Sammy. Didn't seem to hurt them!

Heshy, Zevy and Sammy are not really nicknames; they are just regular names shortened.

And where I live there are well-respected men named Boo-Boo and Yumi! Didn't hurt them!

I always tried calling my kids by their names, but ds has become noo noo boo or choolu, and dd is pickle. They know their names...well, dd not so sure yet...she's 3 mos...I just can't resist their nicknames...maybe it's another type of navua.

I have a son named Avrohom (plus a middle name)and when we shorten it we just call him Av.
Av works for an adult just as easily as a child.
