I live in MB, so all my shabbos clothes are light weight, light color, etc.
I need to be in NYC, for Shabbos, to a very posh shul.
What's in style, winter.
I need something for night and something for day
Links would be helpful.
I am 5'0 about a size 8, 50 yrs old, if that makes a difference.
I prefer pencil/straight skirt or dress.
Also I don't know much about style.

I don't live in NY.
I need to see ideas.

I'm coming in for that shabbos, a little too late to start shopping.
If it wasn't cold, when I usually go to NY, I wear what I usually wear.
Also, we were invited to a posh shul, my DH as visiting scholar. I have feeling all I eyes will be on me. I don't need to look wow, but I'd like to fit in
A light or white skirt with a pretty top, or a flowery springy dress just won't do.

I hear you. When in doubt, wear a fur vest, with a black pencil skirt, and high heels, and a nice Shaitel and Jewelrwy You should look great!

Wear all black with some funky jewelry and great shoes. Its easier than figuring out a specific outfit.

People in my (posh) neighborhood seem to be wearing dresses and sometimes elegant skirt and sweater outfits, not suits or blazers. They are wearing more color, but as Little Miss says, all black, or an elegant neutral like charcoal grey, is always right, and can be easier to do perfectly than the wrong color.

Can someone on here direct me to a nice
Sweater outfit on line
The nice ones I find are too short, even for me.

Why not go to a nice store in Miami Beach or Boca like Saks or equivalent and ask for help of a stylist or personal shopper.
I am in Los Angeles which is also not a cold climate and generally the good department stores stock clothing for other climates. You don't need to wear a heavy wool sweater since it's a formal event. Think wool jersey in darker colors. Get some nice shoes and bags in less tropical motifs. You don't need clothing for the Arctic as you will be indoors.

I would say to check out Instagram, the NY (Brooklyn) stores have Instagram pages, someone here mentioned Fallon's, just google Fallon's Instagram and look at the dresses there...
