my favorite store bought cookie has always been Ostreicher's chocolate chip... love the texture. Taste great dipped in milk. These days I do not buy cookies (only in emergency) but I miss those.... anyone have a recipe for similar cookies. Thanks

if you really like them, why don't you just buy them.
we know you love to bake, , we won't tell anyone that you didnt make them?
I guess the reason they taste diffirent,, or have that texture cuz of the perservatives and stuff they add to add to keep it fresh

I buy it by the case. comes out much cheaper. About preservatives, I don't think it has any. I want to take my kids one day to see how its baked.

the cookies area a delicious melt in your milk texture, a crumb texture more then a soft cookie (but not crunchy)... it has nothing to do with freshness from preservatives, I've never tasted another cookie with that texture.
About buying them, that is an idea, but a) they are on the expensive side compared to other cookies sold here in Montreal b) I do not want to buy them. I enjoy baking and I like having home baked goods in my home. I buy only as a last case scenario when I'm over loaded with stuff to do.
I wasn't asking for ideas on how to buy it, I was asking if anyone had a recipe that could compare to them.

they actually have the ingredients on the bag. u should try experimenting. I think the dough must be firm so it doesn't flatten in the oven. prob. uses less shortening than a usual recipe.

This is the BEST choc chip cookie recipe ever.
Hatzlocho!! Let me know how they turn out!
Sorry I only have celsius degrees, not fahrenheit!!
Chocolate Chip Cookies

½ bicarb soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups oatmeal flour
Method:
Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla essence.
In a separate bowl, sift dry ingredients.
Fold dry ingredients into margarine mixture by hand, not all at once.
Options to be added:

1 cup chopped nuts
Place golf ball size portions 5cm apart.
On an oven tray bake at 190°c for 12-15 minutes.
Cool on a wire tray.

thanks proudmom... except that is not what I'm looking for, Yael's cookies are delicious (she sent some over one time) but I'm looking for a specific cookie... my husband and I both like these (the osteicher ones)a lot and I think he'd really appreciate if I made them... I guess this is one of those "TOP SECRETE RECIPES"...

Did you try guessing amounts for the listed ingredients? (Remember that ingredients are listed in order of amount used, greatest to least.)
