Do you have the purple spice and spirit cookbook? The second recipe (I think its called deluxe) is good, but I found the basic recipe was very dry and crumbly.

You can use knaidel batter too....you can also use puff pastry (I know, Defy, it's fattening.)

Knaidel batter is very good, I've made matzah balls stuffed with ground beef before - delicious!

Defy, that sounds delicious and very easy. My 2 main criteria. Wink How do you season the meat? Also, is the meat cooked or raw when you stuff it?

Please!!! I have the recipe for the dough from KBD, but waht about the rest? I tried once a kreplach that had a filling like a meat paste or chicken, it wasn't ground, does anyone know that recipe?

I sautee some onions, and then brown the meat. I usually don't add much seasoning - soup kind of leeches the flavor and ground beef is usually salty enough.

Agreed. Kosher beef is very salty because of the kashering process. I find that in general. I'm with defy. Keep it simple. Hatzlacha!

I just made the recipe from the spice and spirit but I used whole wheat flour. Thye came out great and now I don't have to feel so guilty whey my kids eat them!!
