Hey,
I'm looking for any info regarding Ohr Shraga D'Veretsky in Lakewood.
Some specific questions:
I am aware it's a fairly new school, Do they have a 4th grade?
Are they on solid ground? (Not in danger of closing down)
How would you descrive the parent body? Is it similar to the Flatbush Veretsky?
Is their secular education on par with other Lakewood cheders?
Thank you so much for your time!

Hi. My son is iyh going there next year and I know a few people who send and are very happy. The oldest is third grade. From what I know it's a very warm school and the education is top. English is deff as important at limudei kodesh. The parent body is mostly more yeshivish and not like the Brooklyn crowd, however I heard that next year's grade is not as yeshivish as the older grades. It's supposed to be a really nice crowd.
Hope this helps somewhat!

Thank you so much, definitely helpful! I've got just a few more questions...

How does the school differ from Yeshiva Torah Temimah or Tashbar?
Do they have a regular school building or is it in a house?
Any idea what the class size is for the oldest grade?

Tashbar doesn't translate chumash into yiddish.
I thought I heard that the Lakewood school does - but I could be wrong.
I only know one person who sends in Lakewood and he is VERY yeshivish, but it could just be a small sample of the parent body.

It's more yeshivish then tashbar. The oldest class has about 15 kids. Grade for next year has 2 classes. They have 2 floors of a diff yeshiva. They are looking for a building

What do you mean by heimish?
Not organized?
Small?
Chassidish?

Most new schools in Lakewood start that way. Small classes. Add one class at a time. Rent space until they can afford their own building.
What were you expecting?

Yiddish in Lakewood doesn't mean heimish. Very few boys schools in Lakewood don't use yiddish, and even less girls schoosl. heimish and yeshivish are VERY different. The yiddish pronunciation differs a lot.

The family I know that is sending speaks Yiddish at home, but they are litvish yeshivish.

I know that next year they'll have an 8th grade.
I also know that they started working on their building, currently they're renting.
I think there are 3 primaries this year
The families I know that send there are middle of the road. What you might describe as OOT yeshivish. Though many of the families are on the younger side.

They seems to have a lot of Jackson families. Yeshivish, it strikes me as similar to the cheder. They need their own building though.

It is a great school. I like the description used before of "OOT yeshivish". Very warm menahel and rebbeim, very attuned to the needs of the kids and smart in dealing with issues. They are in their own building, but renovating to be a nice proper school building

Hi,

I'm looking into this yeshiva for my son(s) and have heard a little about it. I have a few questions, if anyone can answer.

How is the crowd in the younger grades?
Do they have a strong remedial help program in place (not that I know if anyone needs it, but want to know if anyone needs it in the future that the yeshiva has it in place)?
If my girls are in Bnos Yaakov, would it seem the right fit for my boys to be in Ohr Shraga?

Please only answer if you have something positive to say. If you have anything not positive to say, please leave it out, I'll find out what I need to know on not such a public forum if I need to. Or maybe I can pm you if need be.

TIA!

I am super happy there. I have kids in the upper and middle grades. The crowd in general is yeshivish and modern yeshivish, working, learning and in Klei kodesh. There is an excellent remedial system in place, math, kriah , reading, and speech therapy covered in school fully. The hanhala is incredible and so are each one of the rebbeim and teachers that we’ve had. I hope you are able to get in!

They have the same remedial program as every other boys' school in Lakewood. It's whatever the agency offers.
