We were exposed to chicken pox a week before we were supposed to fly to my sister's wedding. B"H didn't catch it that time, but definitely use your travel insurance to cover any financial losses; that's what it's there for.

I just want to mention that some credit cards have excellent travel protection that automatically is in effect when using the card to pay for tickets. I've used that as well when the airline would not take responsibility for refunding a flight.
