We are going to Israel in the beginning of February with 2 children age 4 and 8.

We will be spending most of our time in Jerusalem but will take day trips up to 1.5 hours away

We may also go up North for a night and spend a day or two there.

Please help me with the following:

1) What to do in Jerusalem with kids?

2) What to do in the evening in Jerusalem without kids? (We have relatives who will watch them evenings)

3) What to do in Teveria/Tvat/Surrounding areas with kids?

4) What to do in Teveria in the evenings without kids?

5) What trips can we take within an hour and a half of Jerusalem with kids?

6) Ideas for the airplane rides to make it more manageable.

7) Restaurants that are really fun or nice.

I am not looking for trips to amusement parks, fun zones, bowling, etc. Those things can be done in America. I would rather something a bit more original and specific to Israel. Also restaurants, prefer ethic food- not your typical burgers and pizza.

Thank you for your help!!!!

There are a variety of tours by the kotel, some more interesting for kids than others. The biblical zoo
Machon hamikdash
Eretz Bereshit
Ir Dovid has a lot of stuff going on
Machne yehuda
Geula
Town
Blind museum
Tank museum
Kever Rochel

For the plane, bring lots of snacks, changes of clothes, gum or lollys for ear popping. Lots of wipes, and shopping bags for garbage. Tablets with your own movies and games in case the plane doesn't have something that your kids like. Melatonin! Or other drugs.

Good luck, and I hope you have an amazing time!

Definitely go to Eretz Bereishit - around 45 minutes from Jerusalem and perfect for kids! The Biblical Zoo and/or Ramat Gan safari are also both very nice. Near Tiveria is a place called Gan Guru with kangaroos you can pet and an enclosed room where birds land on you and eat from the food sticks they give you - amazing for kids (and adults)! You could also drive from there to Rosh HaNikra grottoes.

Hi! Just did this. Here are my suggestions:

Israel Museum has a children's exhibit all the time. Now it's called cats and dogs, very age appropriate and on Tuesdays there are some craft activities for kids. Your kids could be happy at least an hour in there. You can add that as an activity when you do a run through of the museum.

Biblical Zoo in Jerusalem, full day activity for us with kids.

Ein Yael, near to the biblical zoo in Jlm. Your kids are good ages for this.

Eretz Bereishit, awesome fun for whole family

Dig for a Day (we missed it, but it's a great family activity)

Children's museum in holon, has a dialogue in the dark exhibit, but was the right age for my 11 year old, 4 will be too young. There is a gorgeous kids playground nearby, for a bit older kids.

Find out where the kids parks near where you plan to be, dress warm, bc it may be too cold.

I recommend you make sure to have one "kid fun" activity planned each day, so you can get something fun in for you, but have the kids looking forward to something for them a well.

For the plane: get a new toy for them, don't show it to them unless they "need it" on the plane: low mess, like a magnadoodle, crayons instead of markers. The plane has kid movies, but hold off as long as you can, so they sleep. Bring some awesome treat or candy if need be to keep them occupied. ALSO BRING FOOD, a sandwich, cheese/ meat slices, pretzels, etc. Just in case they can't stand the meals.

Enjoy!
