I noticed my neighbor who is in hatzalah leaving his house the past few Shabbats in middle of the meal. Just wanted to thank all the Hatzalah wives for allowing their husbands to do this mitzvah! (It must be so hard!)

You are welcome! Just want to say we wives rely on Hatzalah as much as the rest of the community so I am equally thankful !

Yes. It's amazing. My neighbor runs out during the shabbos meal many times.

It amazes me when I see Hatzalah 5 minutes before licht benching. Probably the worst time for husbands to run out of the house!

Thank you for the appreciation! It can be hard sometimes when my husband runs out at inconvenient times but I am often the one urging him on. It's such a special way to help people.

So you run to answer the phone as you're serving the Shabos meal?

As another dispatcher here: we most certainly do. Or in the middle of kiddush, davening, etc.

And DSIL is a responder. They once had guests for a meal. After they'd washed and he was about to make hamotzi, his radio went off and he ran to a call. DD calmly picked up the challah plate and put it in front of the male guest and he then made hamotzi.

In a different city, I once ate a shabbos meal at the home if a dispatcher. She had a special apron with the hatzalah phone in it that she wore the whole time she was "on call." She was ready to answer anytime. She took it off when her shift ended.
