I'm looking for some new salad recipes for Shabbos (not fresh salad... I have loads of those).
Any ideas? (and before anyone suggests it, I checked through all the salad posts already!) Anyone tried anything new lately?

She must mean either pickled, like a slaw, or cooked, like ratatoulle.

what veggies do you like or have on hand? OR just recipes in general? Sorry to ask so many questions, I just don't want to give you something you aren't looking for.

I actually never made the fruit salad but my friend always makes it and says how good it is. It's not supposed to be a set jello, the jello is only there for flavoring, just mix everything together in a container and serve (or refrigerate).
For the health salad you can add other vegetables you like, I forgot to write cut up baby corns but I always add that, it's delicious, snap peas are also good.

Sorry but had to ask. A health salad which has 3/4 c. sugar? That seems a lot.

People call carrots "sugar", but come on! It's not an Oreo!

I change what I put in my salads all the time. I just experiment if I think a different vegetable would go well in it.
bashinda, in general, in these oil/vinegar/sugar dressings you can cut down a lot on the measurements.

corn and bean salad is really yum
[color=darkblue]2 cans corn
1 can red beans
chopped onion, green and red pepper
chopped or sliced green olives
marinate with 2Tb olive oil,
1/4 c. red wine vinegar
garlic powder
basil
salt/pepper
(I also pour in a little olive 'juice')
also red potato salad
I make it with spices and Miracle Whip and chives etc. and you can also add chunks of smoked turkey!
rattatouille is good also on top of basmati rice

[quote="greenfire"]and chocolate moosey a carrot's sugar is way healthier than that of an Oreo
But a carrot is looked down on, nutritionally.
This is a recipe that I like:
Health Salad– can be used for Pesach, too
This is a great make ahead recipe. Shred a small head green cabbage, one carrot, a small onion, and green or red bell pepper if using. I slice in a cucumber. Heat 1/2 cup oil (I use much less), 3/4 cup sugar & 1/2 cup lemon juice to rolling boil. Add 1 tsp. salt . Pour over veggies. Let stand in fridge. Is even good a week later!
Yes, it's got sugar, but it';s also got a lot of cabbage, carrots, onions, and a pepper and cuke. We're not diabetic, BH, so why can't we enjoyit?
