I am looking for a pediatrician for my baby who is due soon iyh. Please send your recommendations based on personal experience. I was thinking Chana Gelbfish but based on a search here she didn't seem so highly recommended. Who else is there? Anyone hear of a Mordechai Beityakov? Anyone else?

I thought I heard that they're not accepting new patients? Is there a phone number you can give me?

Dr. Wahba is excellent. The office is extremely efficient, and there is literally no wait time. He is kind, friendly, calm and very knowledgeable.

Op, what's important to you?

I know a lot of ppl who are happy with Dr. Beit Yaakov. He works out of his house and is literally always available.

I use Dr. Joseph Wahba. The office is well run and so far I'm happy. You can pm if you have specific questions.

I just did a search on this Wahba and see that he comes highly recommended on imamother. So that is a plus. This is my first so I don't even know what's important. I know that I need someone who will be available for my questions as I'm the type to be a worried, first time mom and I should be taken seriously. Someone gentle with children and a great diagnostician.

He will give you as much time as you need by appointments and answer any questions you have. He always takes me seriously and is never dismissive of my concerns (and I have plenty of them as I'm a worried first time mom also).

He is patient, friendly and answers all your questions. I never feel rushed during an appointment. I also find that he's up to date on the latest medical recommendations (ex. not starting solids until 6 months) even though he's not a very young doctor.

You should just know that he doesn't have late hours so if you work and that's important to you, it's something to consider.

I'm a first time mom too, although not a worried one, I think.

Another vote for Schulman and Fenster. I've been there for 15 years and they never let me down Bh!

I believe they do take newborns. I’m not sure. You can call 718-645-7337.

He's a very good doctor, but as I recall, it can be difficult to get an appointment with him for a random sick visit. If it's a pre-planned well visit, you can usually get an appointment with him. But many pediatric visits aren't pre planned. So you see whichever doctor is available.

Maybe older patients have more pull or something, but personally when I was new to the practice, I was not able to see him when I wanted to. I was only there for a few years. I moved out like 6 years ago or so? I don't even remember how many years ago

That’s crazy! How can you use a doctor who won’t see you for sick visits?

Lol, honestly, I don't know, but I see people say this type of thing all the time regarding group practices (not just pediatric practices). On Facebook etc.... "This doc is amazing, the best, etc." And I'm like Cool so how come Im never able to get an appointment with him. Maybe I should plan ahead for my sick visits, like plan ahead to get sick, lol, or something. There's a group practice for adults where I live now and the main doctor there is supposedly amazing. Which is great, except I don't think I've actually ever met him. I've only see his PA's.

With Dr Abberbock's group, it's really not as bad as the group I described above. The odds of getting an appt with Dr Abberbock are significantly better.

So you actually may be able to get an appointment with him for a sick visit. But, maybe not. I'd say odds are about 40/60 that you can get an appt with him for an unplanned sick visit. For the non-pediatric medical group I mentioned above (adult internists), odds are like 10/90 that you'll get to see the main doctor, like really super low, like keep dreaming, you'll never meet the guy, so who cares if he's good, type of thing.

So as group practices go, I would say that Dr Abberbock's office is actually pretty good. And he is a great doctor, so... For some people, it works out.

But it's relevant and important to contemplate when choosing a medical practice.

I recommend Mordecai Beityaakov. He has great hours and is very gentle. When my son had an emergency after his bris, he called me and told me that his family is in the car going out ( it was a sunday in august) but he will wait for me to come.

Dr. Teitelbaum and Dr. Lecht on Avenue L and East 10th are excellent.
They give you lots of time and are very knowledgeable. Staff is patient and will give you emergency appointments if necessary and are generally accommodating.

My baby has a medical issue and he will always see me if I want him to. But I am perfectly fine going to one of the other doctors for a strep culture. And if you do go to one of the other doctors or PAs with something unusual then they will consult him. I highly recommend his practice.
