DH has several traffic tickets in bklyn. The first court case is coming up. Im looking for advice regarding whether it's worth it to hire a lawyer for $250. Short of the cop not showing up, I don't understand how these cases are winnable. If it's a speeding case the cop used radar and he knows the drill and knows that he can't say that his radar was broken and the sun was in his eyes and he's not really sure. What percentage of cases are actually won by the defendant? Hiring a lawyer seems like throwing money away. Thoughts?

Before hiring any potential lawyer ask him how many people in your EXACT situation got off. I'm sorry to say this but I heard from someone who had once been a traffic judge that if you got caught in a radar trap you have no real chance of getting off.
